Doctor’s appointment this morning.  Bill got to listen to the heartbeat through one of their microphone-type thingies, which I thought was a big deal, but apparently, he says he can hear it just as good when he puts his ear to my belly.  So oh well about that!

I have (hopefully) my last ultrasound scheduled for next umm…Tuesday???  I think?  Possibly Wednesday.  The card is in my bag, so I really have no idea.  I can’t seem to keep anything in my head for more than a few seconds these days!

I got fussed at again for not gaining any weight (at least I didn’t lose any like a few weeks ago!  it could be worse!) but I don’t really understand that because he has gotten visably bigger.  It’s hard to keep eating all the time when you have something squishing everything in your belly!!  But I got the go-ahead to graze all day long and eat whatever sounds good to me at the time.  That’s a first!!!

The baby shower is tomorrow and I just can’t wait!  Hopefully the outfit I bought two weeks ago will still fit!!  Kristen and Joshua are coming in tonight and we’re going to cook out and just generally chill, so I’m really really looking forward to that as well.  Just not the whole “cleaning the house” stuff before they get here! LOL

That’s all I’ve got for now.  There was probably more, but hey, blame it on the (prenancy) (b)raaaaaaiiiiiiiin.  Heh.

Not a whole lot new to report today, other than these few pictures.  I have graciously decided not to regail y’all with stories of my itchy belly-button or what I’m cooking tonight or how I totally cleaned the kitchen and where is my gold star?!

I know these must be getting boring, but the nurse told me day before yesterday that the baby is gaining about an ounce every day, so I figured after about a week or so, we might be able to see a difference looking back through the posts.

Also, he is sticking out butt-first today.  Hello pointy belly!

Homemade pulled pork sammiches!!!  Complete with homemade Carolina-style barbecue sauce!!  And yes…of course, I took pictures!!!  And yes, of course I’m posting them here.  Just consider yourselves lucky I didn’t take any pictures of the total MESS I made in the kitchen preparing this yumminess!

So anyway.  Yesterday was a big “baby stuff day”!  We took a trip out to Jacksonville to visit the Babies R Us, which we didn’t know was there.  I figured only y’all Raleigh-folks were lucky enough to have one close.  Although I don’t know if “lucky” is the correct work.  “Wallet-draining” might have been a better choice!

While I was finishing up the barbecue sauce, Bill was in the garage putting together out latest addition to the baby’s collection of stuff.  A stroller!  The carseat was already put together, thank goodness.  Everything baby-related seems to come with a lot of “assembly required”!  It’s a good thing Bill’s here.  He can put anything together!  Although, I must say, I helped put the baby’s dresser together (two whole drawers!  and they are the ones on the top, if you must know).

Along with the carseat and the stroller, we finally decided on a diaper bag.  Or I should say I finally decided on a diaper bag.  I figured if it was going to be something that I carry around all the time, I might as well like it and it might as well have all the functions that I want.  Not to mention, it had to be manly enough that Bill wouldn’t mind carrying it around.  Also, a lot of the inside patterns kind of made me queasy.  So we finally picked one!

With these few purchases, I’m feeling a lot less stressed about ZOMG WHAT IF THE BABY COMES EARLY WE ALREADY DON’T HAVE A NAME AND THEN WE WOULD ALSO HAVE NO CARSEAT AND THEY WON’T LET US TAKE HIM HOME AND IIIIEEEEEEEEEE *lots of hair-pulling*.

So now I think I shall keep my hair, what I haven’t already pulled out, and end this post of oddly-sized pictures and randomness that is a day late, but thanks to editable timestamps will NOT be late (muahahahaha!) and end this run-on sentence before my mom’s head explodes.

Had a doctor’s appointment today and everything is still right on track.  The nurse said if she had to guess, the baby is about 6 pounds and measuring where he needs to be.  Also, his heart rate is 130, which is good.  She said it sounded like a nice strong heart beat!  Yay!

I am negative for everything I’m supposed to be negative for and have the highest “tolerace” (or “immunity” or whatever) to the chicken pox that the nurse had ever seen.  She said that hers was incredibly high, but mine was even higher than that.  So I guess that Easter that I spent itching to death was worth it.  And to top it all off, I actually gained almost the proper amount of weight this last week, unlike the last week and a half where I lost a pound and got fussed at.

Along with being spared morning sickness, gestational diabetes, and a whole host of other pregnancy related ickiness, I am apparently a little anemic, but I think I was slightly beforehand anyway.  The heartburn, though, Oh My God The Heartburn.  Please go away.  I will pay you.  Take whatever you want and just get out.  I swear I won’t call the police.

Enough of the technical stuff.  Meet Thunderbolt! He is a puppet!  A puppet that I am already kind of playing with.  Which really, should come as no surprise to those of you who knew me as a child.  A child with an obsession for all things cute and stuffed and animal-ish.  POPPLES!!!

No, Thunderbolt is no in jail.  He is in the crib!  The beautiful crib that young Cletus the Fetus’ grandparents bought for him!  And please take a second to ooh and ahh over the adorable plane sheets! (pausing for all the “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing” that is certainly occurring at this very moment.)  There is also a giraffe.  I believe we named him “Spot” (?) or something equally unimaginative a few months ago when we bought him as our very first baby toy.  Sadly, it took us a good month to realize that when you wind him up so that he plays music, his head also moves all around.  Are we observant or what?!

Poor kid.  He’s going to get so frustrated with us not figuring out what he wants until waaaay after he wanted it!

So that’s my update for today.  As I mentioned yesterday, there may be a post coming later (today? don’t hold your breath, but it’s possible) with some pictures from the past few months.  I already forgot to do it yesterday, but I’m aiming for some time this week!

This is actually going to be mostly a blog to keep family and friends updated on the baby once he (YES!  HE!!) gets here, but it seemed prudent to go ahead and get started on it now and maybe even remember to take a few pictures of my belly along the way!

Bill and I will both be posting entries here in a randomy type fashion based solely on who remembers and who is on the computer at the time.  Also, there may be a few days there where he’s the only one posting depending on how much “recovery time” I can charm out of him.

Me: But Honey, I just had a BABY!

Him: Umm…that was a year ago…

So.  Yeah.  We shall see.  I’ll probably dig back through the archives of my computer and try and find some old “belly pictures” for another post, but that really all depends on how long my Diet Cherry 7up lasts.

So here it is.  The first glimpses of “Cletus the Fetus”. (I know, sorry Mom…we’re working on a name!)  He is officially squirmey and kicky and generally uncooperative when I’m trying to sleep…or stand…or sit…  The movements now make me think something is going to come bursting out Alien-style!

As for me, it’s heartburn and hot flashes and the occasional bout of nausea, but seeing as how I completely skipped over any morning sickness at all, I’d say I’m still ahead of the game on this one.

I’m adding things as I think about them, so try to stick with me here.  As of about three weeks ago, he already had a full head of hair and was 17 inches long, weighing in at 4.6 or 4.7 pounds.  Also, did I happen to mention that IT’S A BOY?!  We are just so thrilled it’s hard to hold it back a little bit.  His favorite place right now is snuggled up on my bladder, which is making me increasingly paranoid about sneezing, laughing, coughing, or generally moving.  I keep threatening to send him to his womb if he doesn’t behave.  I’m also pretty sure he’s also already started rolling his eyes at me.  Heh.

I’ll try to think of some more “update-y” type stuff later (along with pictures!  Yay pictures!  Pictures are interesting!  Less typing, more belly!), but don’t quote me on that.
